I felt a need to write this in answer to after reflecting on something said to me a few weeks ago.
My parents had a very close relationship with another couple from very early in their marriage. The four of them were very close in life and I’m sure this is still very much the case today even though they have each crossed over to the next level. Recently this couples oldest son made a comment on Facebook regarding my stature within the Roman Catholic Church, he stated I got off the bus a long time ago.
I understand the why behind him stating such, however he is very wrong. You hear the terminology “staunch Catholic” all the time, but what does being a staunch Catholic really mean? For myself I was raised in a Catholic family. We attended Mass every Sunday and on holidays. I attended a Catholic grade school, high school and after tenures at Milwaukee Area Technical College and the University of Wisconsin, I attended a Catholic College and Seminary. My three older sisters, each started the process of becoming Sisters (Nuns) with the Sisters of the Divine Savior. Only one of my three sisters made her final vows and to this day over 50 years later she remains committed to her chosen vocation. As a child, absolutely no question in my mind I felt the calling. However unlike my sister I had a strong desire to have children, I very much so wanted to be a Father like my Dad. I would guess my family and I would be defined as “staunch Catholic!”
At eight years of age as I stood behind the Alter located within the Chapel at the rectory for the Holy Ghost Parish in Dickeyville, WI., I presided over Mass for my family and the Priest. At that point within my soul, the seed was already planted by the Holy Spirit that would lead me away from the Roman Catholic Church to where the Good Lord wanted me to be. Catholic Parishioners think they are the one and only Apostolic Church. Our Heavenly Father believes otherwise and obviously he believes that Ministers should be allowed to have a wife and children as well.
Evil did not lead me astray God did.
There is no Church in this world that does a better job teaching about the Bible and our Lord Jesus Christ, than the Roman Catholic Church. They are amazing. I am so very grateful for the education I was blessed with, not just from my teachers, but from the Priests, my parents, family, friends and the Sisters in fellowship with my own sister.
The truth be told, I never LEFT the Roman Catholic Church, I still to this day EMBRACE the Roman Catholic Church. I did not get off the bus, instead sometimes to make it home an individual needs to transfer from one bus to another bus. This is what Brother Michael needed to do to fulfill his calling, transfer from one bus to the other!
I believe the Holy Bible is not a book of statute or laws, with exception to the Ten Commandments. I believe the Holy Bible was designed as a book of reference for Christians to enhance their individual relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ and his teachings. I do not believe that any one individual or Church has the authority to enforce what they interpret the Holy Bible to say upon any other. The only individual who possesses such authority is God.
The Roman Catholic Church regardless of their interpretation of the Holy Bible does not have the authority in choosing to ordain just men.
The Roman Catholic Church regardless of their interpretation of the Holy Bible does not have the authority to alienate or shun individuals based on sexual preference.
The Roman Catholic Church regardless of their interpretation of the Holy Bible does not have the authority to prohibit birth control. My wife and I did not use medicinal methods for birth control. However, we relied on the rhythm method which is where we chose what time of month to have intercourse. The rhythm method is just as much a form of birth control as is a pill, condom or any other medicinally or artificially induced method.
The Roman Catholic Church regardless of their interpretation of the Holy Bible does not have the authority to deny individuals from getting remarried.
We will each stand judgment before God and we each will answer to only God. It will be God and only God who decides who he gives da boot to get off da bus.

Ordination
“A vocation is a fruit that ripens in a well cultivated field of mutual love that becomes mutual service, in the context of an authentic ecclesial life. No vocation is born of itself or lives for itself. A vocation flows from the heart of God and blossoms in the good soil of faithful people, in the experience of fraternal love. We are designed with a dreaming brain and a hopeful spirit; it is our nature to envision the life of our dreams. And while dreaming comes easy to us, we must never forget that it takes strength, dedication, and courageous action to bring that dream to life.”
Do you wish to pursue a vocation in ministry – become a minister, get ordained or serve as a wedding officiant?
